2008.06.01: Hot Pepper Festival - Come enjoy the Hottest Days of the Year. 2008.05.01: Hard to believe, but it’s already been a year since we started operations at the new location. They thought we were nuts! They said we’d never survive “all the way out there.” 2008.01.12: 6th Annual Tour de Felasco 50, with not one, but two Cannondale demo trucks on- site, which remain at the shop for the week for test rides. Tinker Juarez has moved back to California, and is regrettably, though understandably, unable to ride the event; 2007.05.01: Our first day of operations at our new location with only two days of down time. Bike Route returns to its roots on 13th Street; 2007.04.28: Our last day of operations at our previous location; 2007.03.01: We’re moving, attempting to re-open at our new location on May 1st; 2007.01.13: 5th Annual Tour de Felasco 50, Cannondale demo truck on-site. New dad Tinker Juarez rides event again; Thanks again to Cannondale and Tinker! 2006.10.17: Bike Route welcomes Orbea into our lineup, an upper crust bicycle maker from the Basque region of Spain. Unique, aesthetically interesting designs full of style, for road, tri and MTB. Pro-tour sponsor of Euskatel-Euskadi; 2006.01.14: 4th Annual Tour de Felasco 50, Cannondale demo truck on-site. Longtime Cannondale racer David “Tinker” Juarez, having recently relocated to Florida, rides the event, posting the quickest time (even though it’s not a race). Polite, friendly, approachable, no ego, all-around nice guy, who just happens to be fast as hell on a bike. He gladly talks to anyone who comes up to him. A great ambassador for the sport and Cannondale, 2006.01.13: Bike Route welcomes Turner to the shop, US designer and builder of some of the most sought after full suspension mountain bikes made. Masters of four-bar linkage systems, Turner’s original designs have been adopted/copied throughout the cycling industry, by both boutique custom builders as well as major mainstream players; 2005.06.23: With their return to the US marketplace, Bike Route welcomes Scott USA into the lineup with some of the best carbon fiber in the industry, effectively defying a certain Mr.Keith B.’s assertion of “strong, light, cheap blah blah blah”…bicycle supplier to road pro tour team Saunier-Duval; 2005.01.15: 3rd Annual Tour de Felasco 50, with Cannondale demo truck on-site for test rides, demos, and mechanical support (thanks, Cannondale!); 2004.08.19: After deep consideration—and prodding by local outside sales rep—Bike Route welcomes Cannondale back into our lineup, a premier US brand that has consistently been associated with Bike Route since each company’s inception. The first, finest, and most experienced maker of aluminum bicycles, handmade in Bedford, Pennsylvania, USA. They also make some mighty impressive carbon fiber bikes as well; 2004.05.11: Change of ownership/management, purchased from previous owner, established as a subsidiary of GearHeads, Inc. Proudly locally owned & operated.; Big Thanks Ed Joy edmundjoy@aol.com A big shout-out to GCC member, fast guy on- and off-road, and local all-around handyman, for doing such an outstanding job on re-painting the exterior of the shop. In case you didn’t see it, the shop looked like a bad acid trip in Key West. Pastel pink, purple, turquoise, yellow, white, baby blue, etc. Perhaps it worked when the place was a restaurant, but it didn’t work as a bike shop. But somebody thought that was a cool color scheme, and put in a lot of effort to make it look the way it did before we took over. Ed did a fantastic job in a short amount of time. He worked in, around and with our hours of operation, and squeezed us in around his other work commitments. Nice guy, great to work with, loves cycling…what’s not to like? Being GCC, he’s happy to help out other club members, as well as non-cyclists. Give him a shout via e-mail if you can use his services. Matt Staras of Syzygy Graphics Many people have commented on how good the website looks. We have Matt Staras of Syzygy Graphicsto thank.
